Course Overview
National Water Hygiene ('Blue Card') Training
The National Water Hygiene Training course ensures you have the essential knowledge to maintain safe drinking water and uphold public health standards. This training is vital for anyone working on clean water sites or performing ‘Restricted Operations’ such as work at service reservoirs, water treatment plants, pumping stations, or the water mains network.
What You’ll Learn: The course covers key areas of water hygiene through four essential modules:
- The importance of water
- Water as a carrier of disease
- Potential contamination and its consequences
- Preventing contamination
Upon completion, you'll have a comprehensive understanding of your role in ensuring the water supply remains uncontaminated and safe for public consumption.
Training & Assessment: We offer flexible training options to suit your needs:
Remote/e-Classroom via Zoom: Participate in interactive training from the comfort of your own space, with live guidance from our expert trainers.
All participants will complete a 25-question multiple-choice assessment. Successful candidates will receive an Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) registration, valid for three years, and a virtual Blue Card accessible via the Vircarda app.
Health Screening: A health screening questionnaire must be completed before training. If you’ve had specific illnesses within the past 12 months, medical clearance will be required to proceed.
Joining Remote/E-Classroom
Our courses are held on Zoom, and you will receive a personalised meeting link with your enrolment instructions. We recommend downloading the Zoom app in advance; you can find it here: Zoom Download. For further support, please review the Zoom Meetings Guide before your course.
Attendance
Full attendance is required to pass the course. If your internet connection fails for an extended period or repeatedly, you may not be allowed to re-join unless it is restored within 5 minutes. This ensures the learning experience for other participants is not disrupted.
Assessment
All NWH training is assessed through a multiple choice question test. The test contains 25 questions.
EUSR Registration
Completing a National Water Hygiene training programme and assessment results in an EUSR registration for three years.
