Course Information

Course Overview

The Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Telecommunications scheme is designed to provide a consistent approach to health, safety, and environmental awareness within the telecommunications industry. Developed in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines, this training is essential for individuals needing access to operational sites, including operatives, supervisors, and managers, whether on a temporary or permanent basis.

What You’ll Learn: The SHEA Telecommunications scheme consists of 7 modules:

  • Modules 1-6: Core modules applicable to all utility industries, covering essential workplace health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Module 17: Specific to the UK Telecommunications Industry, addressing the unique safety requirements within telecom operations.

This course ensures you have the necessary knowledge and awareness to work safely in the telecommunications industry.

CSCS Partner: The SHEA Telecommunications scheme is recognised by the CSCS Alliance, allowing workers in the telecommunications sector to access construction sites for utilities work. This partnership removes the need for a separate CSCS card.

Training & Assessment: We offer flexible training options:

  • Remote/e-Classroom via Zoom: Participate in live, interactive sessions from anywhere.

After successfully completing the training and assessment for all 7 modules, you will receive a certification demonstrating your awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards. However, this scheme does not assess technical skills or expertise.

Joining Remote/E-Classroom

Our courses are held on Zoom, and you will receive a personalised meeting link with your enrolment instructions. We recommend downloading the Zoom app in advance; you can find it here: Zoom Download. For further support, please review the Zoom Meetings Guide before your course.

Attendance

Full attendance is required to pass the course. If your internet connection fails for an extended period or repeatedly, you may not be allowed to re-join unless it is restored within 5 minutes. This ensures the learning experience for other participants is not disrupted.

Assessment

SHEA Telecoms is a 6.5-hour course that can be completed in a full day or split across two evenings, consisting of 8 modules, each with a short multiple choice assessment.

EUSR Registration

EUSR registration for SHEA Telecoms is for three years from the date of assessment.
